SCOTTEE Scottee first appeared on the scene, flanked by his partner Johnny, as part of Yr Mum Ya Dad. Much like a pair of bulls in a china shop, it would've been difficult to miss this odd couple in clubland. They were bent on showing as much bare flesh as possible, clad in newspapers and carton boxes and smeared in war paint. Promoting the now-defunct Anti-Social, while DJ-ing and performing there, they made their favourite pastime - looking utterly grotesque - something resembling an art form. And the club scene loved them for it. They were cocky, full of beans and you knew that if they didn't burn themselves out, their future looked very promising. However, 2007 witnessed a split of sorts. Johnny is now known as Buster and works as DJ/promoter, while Scottee performs as a solo artist. When not causing havoc at Tate Modern, Glasto, The ICA or the Edinburgh festival, the latter is bent on creating a new and exciting approach to performance. He certainly does that ... and often. Additionally, after running various clubs, the likes of Domestic, Issue and Foreign, with varying degrees of success, he's now enjoying yet another hit with Smash & Grab, Thursdays at Punk, as well DJ-ing at many other venues. |
