CELEBRITY    Click on image for details
In the celebrity-obsessed world we live in, there are clearly two camps to which one belongs: the celebrity and the non-celebrity, end of story. Those who belong to the former will only consider mixing with the latter if it's absolutely imperative or if there's something in it for them - usually something to do with furthering their career or maybe just getting their hands on some irresistible freebies (like a goodie bag!). Unless of course they are on camera, as it is paramount to display a warm, friendly and down-to-earth image at all times, even if fingers point to rampant egomania and/or megalomania. Ignoring all that, the non-celebrity suffering from a psychotypal celebrity disorder will relentlessly pursue their victims in a desperate attempt to befriend them or even just to be seen with them, if only to be able to brag about knowing them. Celebs have better beware, there's a thin line between a gawker and a stalker. However, there is growing hope for the mere anonymous mortal to cross the great divide. In recent years, the popularity of 'reality' talent and game TV shows set about the further democratisation of showbiz and the realm of celebrity at large. Talent or looks aren't often required, but a deluded nature, pushy personality and unflinching self-belief will usually do the trick. More than ever, just about anyone on the planet can have their fifteen minutes. Moreover, if those "nonebrities" (i.e. individuals who have celeb status for no apparent reason) play their cards right, they might also hang on to their "nonebrity" long enough to pay off the mortgage.
